Prof Verhagen is a senior researcher at the Department of Public and Occupational Health of the VU University Medical Center and the EMGO Institute in Amsterdam. He specializes in Prevention of sports and physcial activity related injuries (including cost-effectiveness and implementation issues) and physical activity promotion integrated in everyday life.

Dr James Brown successfully defended his PhD thesis at Vrije University Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Supported through the Desmond Tutu Programme of the Vrije University Amsterdam and the South African National Research Foundation, James now holds the PhD degree from the University of Cape Town and the Vrije University Amsterdam.
